How to Start / Stop Service

Starting Service

You can request to start service by contacting our Customer Service staff at (909) 384-5095 or by visiting our Customer Service office.

What is Required to Start Service?

  •  Valid picture identification (ID)
  •  Tenants will need owner authorization to begin service
  • Owners must provide final settlement statement or recorded grant deed
  • Account deposits are required and must be quoted by San Bernardino Municipal Water Department (SBMWD) Customer Service staff.

Account Set Up

In order to process and approve your application for water service, a non-refundable $40 administrative fee will be applied to the first bill pursuant to SBMWD Rule and Regulation number 10 (PDF). Please contact Customer Service for a full list of required items to start service. 

Deposits

Deposits are refunded to the account after 24 consecutive months of good pay history as indicated by water department Rule and Regulation number 8 (PDF).

Stopping Service

You can request to stop service by contacting our Customer Service staff at (909) 384-5095 or by visiting our Customer Service office during normal business hours. Please allow two business days from the time of the request for processing and updates to the account. Accounts are not closed, transferred, or re-opened automatically. It is the responsibility of each account holder to notify Customer Service to discontinue services.
